9: "2001: A Space Odyssey," scheduled to show on this
single date in Orange County in conjunction with the 40th
anniversary of the film's initial release. More information will
be forthcoming when available.
15: “Extraterrestrials in our Future” by Professor
Ben Zuckerman of the UCLA Department of Astronomy, 7 p.m. at
Fullerton College, Room 224. This is currently the final program
in the “Space—The Final Frontier" series organized by OCSS
member Dr. Bruce Cordell.
20: OCSS Monthly Meeting, 3 p.m., Heritage Park Library,
Irvine, California.
24: Launch of STS-124.
Space Shuttle Discovery is
scheduled to launch at 5:26 a.m. PDT on the 26th ISS mission.
The mission will deliver the pressurized section of the Kibo
Experiment Logistics Module (JEMPM), along with the Japanese
Remote Manipulator System, (JEM-RMS).
26: Long Beach Science Fair
at Cabrillo High School, 2001 Santa
Fe Ave. OCSS setup will begin at 8 a.m. The fair runs from 9:30
a.m. to noon.
