Thank you for choosing to join or renew through the Orange County Space Society's website. The system is quite easy to use, and very self explanatory. Most of you have use some sort of online ordering in the past, and this system will seem very simple -- because, in fact, it is! However, for some of you, it is new and could cause you some hesitation, so we have included a detailed instruction list below. It might be a little too detailed, but do not let the number of words on the screen frighten you. We have included a great deal of information so that you can't possibly be lost.

To make a payment on the Orange County Space Society website:

* When you click on the "Make a Donation" button, you will be taken to a secure Web page hosted by PayPal, a very safe and secure area to conduct business.

* You do not need a PayPal account to make any payments! All you need is a bank account or credit card.

* On the first screen, you will see that the payment will be sent to the Orange County Space Society. Under that, there is a box that says "Payment For." In that box, please type Renewal or New Member.

* The next box to type in says "Amount." This is in U.S. dollars. If you are renewing or joining as a new member, the cost is the same. Since you can join and/or renew for multiple years (at a discount!), a handy chart has been included below so you know just how much your membership is, and thus just how much you should type into the box:

PLEASE NOTE: In order to receive the discounted rate, you must join for at least one year at the full rate -- $18 for adults, $15 for students/seniors (under 22 or over 65 years old; verification may be required). For each successive year, the cost for an adult membership is $16/year and for a student/senior it's $14/year.

Now, back to our instructions ...

* If you do not have a PayPal account, click the button next to the line saying "If you do not currently have a PayPal account, click here." (It is the line right under the payment box.

* You will be taken to the next page, which has your address. At the very top, there are two choices. One says that shipping is required, the other says that shipping is not required. PLEASE CLICK on the little button next to "Shipping is not required."

* Enter your complete address. This should be the address that we have on file for your membership -- likely your home address.

* Next, at the bottom of the page, click on the button telling the system whether or not this address is also your credit card billing address.

* When you have filled everything in, click on "Continue Checkout" in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

* On this page, you will choose which credit card you would like to use. Click on the little arrow next to "Select Card" to choose which card you will be using. Enter the number in the next box, then the expiration date. You should also see your name already in the next box where it asks for the name as it appears on your card. If you don't see your name there, type it in.

* Under that section is another area to type in your address. Yes, it's a hassle, since you just typed it in, but it should be whatever address your credit card company has on file as your billing address (likely the same as your home address that you typed in on the previous page).

* At the bottom, you will need to type in your E-mail address. This is very important since you will be E-mailed a receipt of the transaction.

* Then, enter your telephone number.

* At the bottom of the page is a security measure. The system asks that you type in a series of letters and numbers for verification. This helps prevent unauthorized use.

* The next page is your last chance to verify that everything is correct. It will show you who you're paying (OCSS), how much your payment is for, the credit card, and your billing address. You can make changes to your shipping address and your billing address, but they should be one in the same.

* When you are 100 percent confident in the information, click on the "Pay" button in the lower left-hand corner.

* If you want to cancel, that button is next to the "Pay" button. It will ask you to confirm that choice, and you can click on either "Return to Checkout" or "Cancel Checkout."

* So, there you have it! It's very easy, and it helps OCSS better manage our renewals. Plus, by using this system, you can pay off your membership on your own timeframe -- not to mention the fact that you can receive airline miles, club points, or whatever special feature your credit card has to offer. Just think -- you could get this much closer to that free trip to Hawaii thanks to your OCSS renewal!
